About Blaz-man Gear

History

Blaz-Man Gear, Inc. was founded in 1993 by Edward Blaszynski. It started out as a one man gear cutting shop who purchased on Barber-Colman gear hobbing machine and a 2500 sq. ft. industrial condo in Bridgeview Illinois which continues to be corporate headquarters today. The capacities at the time were to cut spur, helical, and worm gears up to 16” outside diameter. Over the next couple years manual turning, manual milling, honing, and broaching machines were purchased to be able to perform more services in house. In 1995 Blaz-Man Gear purchased a G&E 48H gear hobbing machine that increased our hobbing capacity to 48” outside diameter. In 1996 Blaz-Man Gear purchased the equipment from Fox Gear Co. when they decided to close their doors. The machinery purchased complemented our existing hobbing capacities. The highlight was the purchase of the Phauter P630 gear hobbing machine. This machine cuts gears up to 25” outside diameter. It filled the gap that we had between our between our smaller and larger machines. This machine continues to be the “workhorse” of our manufacturing plant. We also acquired our first Fellows 6A shaper that allowed us to start shaping hears up to 18” outside diameter. In 1997 we purchased a Fellows 6Z2 shaper that increased our shaping capacities to 27” outside diameter. Later that year we purchased our Les Bradner thread milling machine for cutting worms up to 14” outside diameter.

In 1998 we were faced with a decision to make. The question was do we increase our manual turning and milling capacities or do we modernize with CNC equipment? So, in 1998 we purchased our first CNC equipment. We purchased a Mozak Quick Turn 20 CNC Lathe and a Mazak VTC-20B CNC Mill. In 2007 anticipating further growth and expansion Blaz-Man Gear purchased the third 25000 sq. ft. industrial condo in the adjacent building. In 2007 we purchased a Mazak Nexus 350-II CNC Lathe. This increased our turning capacity to 27” outside diameter. In 2009 we purchased a Mazak 250 CNC Lathe with a barfeeder to be able to do “bar” work up to 3” outside diameter.

In 2002 Blaz-Man Gear purchased a second 2500 sq. ft. industrial condo that is located in our original building and leased it out. However, in 2008 the tenant moved out and Blaz-Man Gear decided it was time to bring grinding in house. So we purchased our first grinding machines. We purchased a Karstens O.D. grinding machine, a Toyo I.D. grinder, and a Cincinnati Centerless grinding machine.

Over the years Blaz-Man Gear has purchased and manufactured numerous tools and fixtures to be able to do as many jobs as possible. We feel that we are capable of accomplishing any challenges that our customer bring to our attention.

Blaz-Man Gear continues to grow by providing quality parts with on time delivery at affordable prices.
